Wooden Sunglasses - More than a Fashion or Sustainability Statement

Wooden Sunglasses

Here at FreshforPandas we work hard to provide funky, fresh Wooden Sunglasses with a twist of colour where we can. So it's easy to forget Wooden Sunglasses are more than just a fashion or sustainability statement - they’re actually a medical device that at serves a vital purpose; to protect your eyesight from harmful Ultraviolet Rays (UV).

UVA and UVB rays cause gradual deterioration of eyesight, which comes into effect years or decades after a person can do anything about it.

Wooden Sunglasses protect against:
Vision loss
Cataracts - where your eyes go cloudy through years of no protection
Macular degeneration - blurred centre of vision
Pingueculae - non-cancerous growths
Pterygia - damage to the whites of your eyes
Photokeratitis - also known as ‘snow blindness’ causing temporary blindness

Therefore, our Wooden Sunglasses are tested to CE and FDA standards to protect against all these UVA/UVB effects; certified for safe use for driving and general purpose use.

You’ll find we have a variety of Wooden Sunglasses and Prescription Sunglasses in our ranges.

In our ‘All Sunglasses’ section, as standard, all come with 100% UVA/UVB protection and Polarised lenses.

Our Prescription Sunglasses and Prescription Optical Frame range you will have the choice of choosing Polarised, Tinted and Mirrored Lenses which all come with the same UVA/UVB protection.

Polarised Lenses
Polarisation protects against glare and reflective light. They do not necessarily protect against UVA/UVB, but ensure a crisper clearer vision in high light situations. Polarised lenses are best suited for driving, sailing or water activities where you find a lot of reflective light.

Our Wooden Sunglasses come as standard with Polarised Lenses.

Our Prescription Sunglasses come with the option to be polarised. However there are certain restrictions; as Polarised Lenses block out light at certain angles, and prescription glazing bends the actual lenses, Prescription Sunglasses with polarisation may not be available.

In addition, Polarised Prescription Sunglasses must not be used by airplane pilots; as airplane dials and controls are already polarised.

Over the course of 2019 we will be adding more Lens Replaceable Sunglasses suitable for Prescription. In the meantime, any questions, please drop us an email at here
